BGI Taklamakan Ten-Thousand-Acre Desert Restoration Project

Under the guidance of the national ecological governance strategy, BGI Bioverse and CGN have joined hands in strategic cooperation to advance the 666.7 hectares comprehensive desert management project in Luopu County, Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang. They have successfully built an integrated demonstration project featuring "photovoltaic power generation, ecological desert control, and agropastoral development".

In June 2024, the project made a phased breakthrough: the desert area has initially achieved vegetation coverage, with former mobile sand dunes gradually turning into an oasis system with ecological self-healing capacity, demonstrating remarkable ecological restoration results. This case has become a model of technology-driven desert governance in southern Xinjiang and even the whole country, drawing in-depth coverage from mainstream media like CCTV and People's Daily.

Looking ahead, the project will further advance the "photovoltaics + planting" integrated model, focusing on large-scale cultivation of high-value cash crops and quality forage. It aims to promote coordinated upgrading of regional ecological improvement and agropastoral industries, injecting green impetus into the local sustainable development.
