Focusing on desert control and ecological improvement, the "desert membrane" technology plays a pivotal role. Its working principle is to add polymer adhesive materials to desert sand and gravel, turning the originally loose fine sand into a dense "desert membrane" structure. This structure features unique selective permeability: it can effectively capture water molecules and nutrients, retain water and fertilizer, fix sand against wind erosion, and provide stable support for crop growth.
Leveraging the "desert membrane" technology, BGI Bioverse has actively launched desert control initiatives in multiple desert areas. To date, it has implemented demonstration projects ranging from 6.67-hectare to 667-hectare scales in the Taklamakan Desert, high-altitude sandy areas in Tibet and other regions.


We are committed to the cultivation and promotion of perennial crops. With the core philosophy of "endless vitality", BGI Bioverse has collaborated with Yunnan University, Sichuan Agricultural University and other research institutions to demonstrate and popularize perennial rice cultivation and perennial corn forage. These crops enable the model of "one-time planting, continuous harvesting", which significantly reduces labor and resource input, decreases the frequency of soil tillage, and enhances the sustainability of farmland ecosystems. To date, large-scale demonstration fields have been established in multiple countries and regions at home and abroad. Meanwhile, we are gradually exploring integrated "perennial-plus" solutions, providing a systematic approach to drive agricultural quality and efficiency improvement and realize modernization transformation.


We focus on the breeding of ultra-efficient microbial strains, as well as the development and application of microbial agents. Relying on innovative platforms such as the State Key Laboratory of Agricultural Genomics and the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Genomics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, BGI Bioverse has completed the digitization of over 100,000 crop microbiomes, covering microorganisms from natural environments such as food crops, oil crops, fruits and vegetables, black soil, and deserts. By comprehensively applying multi-omics technologies and artificial intelligence technologies, we systematically analyze the correlation mechanism of "soil nutrients-crop microbiome-crop phenotype", focus on exploring core strains with functions of promoting growth, disease resistance and soil remediation, and have successfully developed a variety of microbial agent products, providing a scientific and reliable technical service system and product support for promoting the development of green agriculture.
