In Damings County, Hebei Province—known as the “Hometown of Chinese Peanuts”—an innovative agricultural technology is injecting new momentum into peanut cultivation. Recently, field trials in Chengxinzhuang Village, Jiu Zhi Township showed that the “Huayimao” microbial inoculant independently developed by BGI Bioverse delivered outstanding results. When used alongside conventional fertilizers, peanut fields treated with the inoculant achieved an average yield increase of 83.3 jin per mu compared with control plots, with an average yield growth rate of 10.12% and an input–output ratio of approximately 1:6.5.
Field observations indicate that peanuts treated with the “Huayimao” microbial inoculant exhibited clear advantages throughout the entire growth cycle—more developed root systems, stronger seedlings, greener and thicker leaves, and sustained foliage in later stages—demonstrating significantly enhanced stress resistance.
These results stem from the integrated application of “improved varieties + optimized practices + advanced technologies.” The peanut production base in Daming is a national agricultural standardization demonstration zone and has also been designated by the Hebei Provincial Government as a leading agricultural industrialization cluster.
As a signature local industry that promotes farmers’ income growth and rural revitalization, Daming’s peanut sector has continued to explore pathways to quality improvement and industrial upgrading. In 2025, the locally selected variety “JiHua 21,” under standardized cultivation practices and supplemented with the “Huayimao” microbial inoculant, achieved a unified improvement in both yield and efficiency. This model not only concretely demonstrates the synergistic development of “technology-driven agriculture,” “green agriculture,” “quality agriculture,” and “brand agriculture,” but also offers a replicable and scalable technological solution for county-level agricultural development.
Over the past 15+ years, leveraging a globally leading big-data platform, BGI has built a vast agricultural microbial resources database, digitizing more than 100,000 soil samples across 20 provinces nationwide, encompassing diverse soil types and crop-associated microbial resources. Based on the principle of “from the soil, back to the soil,” BGI has formulated multiple microbial products tailored to different crops and regions, aiming to activate the rhizosphere micro-ecosystem, revitalize soil vitality, and achieve fertilizer reduction with efficiency gains and green pest control for sustainable agriculture.
At present, the “Huayi” series of microbial inoculants has been applied across more than 500,000 mu in 42 cities within 14 provinces nationwide, covering rice, soybean, cotton, and a wide range of cash crops. Measured harvest data show yield increases of up to 16.50% for soybeans, 10.25% for rice, and 10% for cotton.
This collaborative “improved varieties + optimized practices + advanced technologies” model not only significantly boosts crop yield and quality, but also provides a reference technological paradigm for the green transformation and high-quality development of county-level brand agriculture in China.
