October 9, 2026 – Wu Jiahai, Director of the Scientific Research Management Division of the Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GAAS), and Professor Tang Qilin from Sichuan Agricultural University, visited BGI Group headquarters with their delegation. They held in-depth discussions on the demonstration and promotion of high-quality forage, integrated crop-livestock farming, and microbial inoculants, reaching preliminary intentions for cooperation in multiple fields. Liu Huan, General Manager of BGI Bioverse, led the reception.

The delegation visited the BGI Bioverse Dapeng Agricultural Base to learn about Maize Forage cultivation and its demonstration and promotion. They then visited BGI Center to learn about BGI’s technological achievements and industrial transformation practices in genomic research, perennial crops, microbial inoculants, and other fields.

At the symposium, based on the current status of Guizhou’s agricultural industry resources and BGI’s technology platform advantages, the three parties reached three preliminary cooperation intentions.

First, build a cooperation platform. They will integrate BGI’s scientific and technological strengths with GAAS’s platform, research, and talent resources, align with local science and technology policies, and explore a mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation mechanism.

Second, integrate Maize Forage resources. They will create demonstration models that can be scaled up from pilot sites, work with Guizhou’s beef cattle industry to promote integrated crop-livestock farming, and simultaneously explore comprehensive application scenarios such as manure treatment and utilization and soil remediation.

Third, promote microbial inoculants to serve the chili pepper industry. Leveraging BGI’s technological advantages in agricultural microbial inoculants, they will carry out green prevention and control of chili pepper pests and diseases to help improve quality and increase yields, with follow-up field research planned to advance implementation.

Guizhou’s beef cattle, tea, and chili pepper industries rank among the top in China by scale, but they also face practical challenges such as the supply of high-quality protein forage, livestock manure treatment and utilization, and karst environment governance. BGI Maize Forage, microbial inoculants, and other achievements have completed industrial validation in many places. This exchange has laid a solid foundation for deepening industry-university-research cooperation. In the future, BGI Bioverse will continue to engage with all parties to promote the local application and commercialization of perennial crops, micro-ecological agriculture, and other achievements in Guizhou, supporting rural revitalization and green, high-quality agricultural development.
