September 23, the Autumn Equinox, marked the ninth Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival.
The 2026 BGI Vast Microbial Agent Soybean Disease Resistance and Yield Increase 10,000-Mu Application Demonstration Observation Meeting was successfully held at Youyi Farm of the Hongxinglong Branch of Beidahuang Group in Heilongjiang Province.
A total of 128,000 mu of soybeans treated with BGI microbial agents have ushed in a bumper harvest. Yield measurement data shows that soybean fields treated with BGI microbial agents achieved a yield increase of 51.6 jin per mu compared with conventional control fields, with a yield increase rate of 12.4%.
Lu Jun, Chief Operating Officer of BGI Group, and Liu Huan, General Manager of BGI Vast, attended the meeting. Also present were heads of the Hongxinglong Branch of Beidahuang Group and related farms, heads of relevant departments of Youyi County, as well as enterprise representatives and grower representatives.
Talking About Harvest at the Harvest Festival
This land was once a magnificent chapter in the history of human wasteland development. More than seventy years ago, the Five-Star Red Flag was raised here, and "the No. 1 Farm Under Heaven," Youyi Farm, was proclaimed, from which the Beidahuang spirit rose. For more than seventy years, from pulling and carrying by hand to mechanized farming, from technology introduction to independent research and development, from "turning wasteland into fertile fields" to leading the direction of agriculture nationwide—Youyi Farm has always stood at the forefront of agricultural history.

Soybean is a strategic material vital to the national economy and people's livelihood, and it is also the bulk agricultural product with the highest import dependence in our country. Participants went deep into the 10,000-mu soybean demonstration field of Youyi Farm of the Hongxinglong Branch of Beidahuang Group to inspect soybean growth and learn in detail about the application of BGI's series of agricultural technologies at the demonstration base.
Soybean fields treated with BGI microbial agents showed uniform growth, robust plants, well-developed root systems, dense root nodules, numerous and plump pods, and round and uniform seeds.
(Application of BGI microbial agents significantly increased soybean root nodules and enhanced nitrogen fixation capacity.)
Liu Huan stated that BGI has been deeply engaged in the field of life sciences for more than 20 years and has formed a complete technical system and a series of core technologies and products in the field of agricultural science and technology, from basic research to application transformation. Beidahuang bears the major mission of safeguarding national food security, and it is hoped that both sides will deepen cooperation, make good use of and transform soil life big data, agricultural microbial technology, and other applications, and use life science and technology to help increase soybean yields per unit area and ensure the sustainable use of black soil, contributing innovative strength to national food security.
From "Demanding Grain from the Land" to "Empowering the Land"
At the symposium, Researcher Wang Yuguang of Heilongjiang University read out the yield measurement report on site: soybean fields treated with BGI microbial agents achieved a yield increase of 51.6 jin per mu compared with conventional control fields, with a yield increase rate of 12.4%.
Dr. Wang Yayu, Director of the Microecology Project of BGI Vast, delivered a keynote report. She said that the demonstration base focuses on green prevention and control of soil-borne diseases such as soybean root rot, while also taking into account black soil protection and yield improvement per unit area, and integrates the application of BGI's "soil testing + ecological assessment + biological control" green prevention and control technology model, achieving all-round protection from soil remediation to planting and maintenance.
It is worth mentioning that the Huayifeng® rhizobium agent, Huaqingwo® microbial agent, Huayikang® microbial agent, and others used in the soybean demonstration field all have as their core component highly efficient functional strains selected from the "physical examination" of tens of millions of mu of black soil—derived from the land and used for the land, achieving "one region's soil, one region's good microbes," so that every piece of land has a microecological solution suited to itself.
A Scheme Continuously Verified
The application effects of BGI microbial agents on a variety of crops have been continuously verified. In 2024, the first year of 10,000-mu demonstration application, BGI Vast cooperated with 16 farms of Beidahuang to carry out 10,000-mu microbial agent application control trials, with obvious soybean yield increase effects; in 2025, the domestic application area of BGI microbial agents exceeded 500,000 mu, among which soybean yield increased by 8.9%–17.4% per mu on average; in 2026, BGI microbial agents have been applied in more than 1.5 million mu across 89 counties and cities in 21 provinces nationwide. From 10,000 mu to one million mu, from rice and soybean to more and more food crops and cash crops, the big-data-driven crop nutrition solution of "protecting soil, reducing fertilizer, improving quality, and increasing yield" is making every inch of land a source of confidence for bumper harvests.
