On September 23, BGI Group’s strategic partner in Mexico, Géntodos Genómica Para Todos (Géntodos), officially opened its Multi-omics Center in Mexico City, marking a new milestone in the collaboration between Géntodos and BGI Group to enhance genomic health and precision medicine in Mexico.

Through this collaboration, Géntodos will lead laboratory operations and service development in Mexico, while BGI Group will contribute as a strategic and technical partner, supporting technology transfer, platform implementation, workflow validation, local team training, and the phased introduction of precision medicine testing across reproductive health, oncology, infectious disease and other multi-omics applications.

The opening marks a key milestone in strengthening local genomic testing capabilities. Géntodos brings together sample processing, genomic sequencing, result interpretation, and clinical decision support within a single high-complexity laboratory workflow. This integrated model is designed to reduce the path from sample to answer and support faster, more reliable, and clinically meaningful decision-making for healthcare institutions, clinicians, and patients.
In Mexico, the adoption of genomic testing in diagnostics and health screening continues to face practical barriers, including limited access to advanced testing methods, affordable genomic analysis platforms, and specialized expertise for result interpretation. Many healthcare providers still rely on laboratories outside the country, which can increase costs, extend turnaround times, and add operational complexity, limiting the integration of advanced genomic technologies into routine clinical care.
The collaboration with BGI Group addresses these bottlenecks by delivering reliable, competitively positioned genomic testing solutions adapted to Mexico’s needs, while bringing decades of expertise and operational experience from BGI Group and international markets to strengthen local capabilities. Through its Mexico City laboratory and nationwide sample collection network, Géntodos plans to expand access to high-quality testing across multiple clinical areas.
