On November 8, 2023, BGI Group had the honor of receiving a delegation of senior government officials from Oman. The parties engaged in discussions about potential cooperation in the fields of genomics technology, education, agriculture, and scientific research in Oman.

The Omani delegation comprised senior officials including H.E. Prof. Rahma Al Mahrooqi, the Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation (MoHERI); H.E. Nasser AlBusaidi, the Ambassador of Oman to China; Dr. Yaqoob Al Raisi, the Directorate-General of Planning at MoHERI; Dr. Maryam Al Nabhani, the Directorate-General of Private Universities and Colleges at MoHERI; Dr. Salah Sumar Al Zadjali, the Directorate-General of Research Programs and Capacity Building at MoHERI; and Dr. Abdullah Al Maniri, the Minister’s Advisor for Public Health at the Ministry of Health.

The delegation received a warm welcome from the senior management team of BGI Group, which included Dr. Yin Ye, CEO and Executive Director of BGI Group; Dr. Jin Xin, Chief Scientist and Director of the Institute of Precision Health Research at BGI-Research; Mr. Louis Luo, Vice President of BGI West Asia Region; and Mr. Dean Huang, Sales Director of BGI West Asia Region. The delegation has also visited the China National GeneBank.

Dr. Yin introduces the BGI Group Headquarters to the Omani delegation.

The delegation visited the BGI Group Headquarters and was inspired by BGI’s vision of using genomics technology to benefit mankind. During their visit, Dr. Yin introduced BGI’s history and achievements spanning over 20 years, while other leadership members presented the organization’s efforts in scientific research, technology development, and contributions to public health.

Both parties expressed a strong willingness to establish a close partnership in the fields of genomics technology, education, agriculture, and scientific research, contributing to the solution of global challenges and creating a more prosperous future for all mankind.
