Taking place June 21st – July 5th, 2026, in Shenzhen, BGI Group extends a warm welcome to your participation in the course of Applicable Smart Medical Technology Training Program for "Belt and Road" Countries. Organized by BGI College, this 15-day program is designed for mid- to senior-level professionals in biotechnology, medicine, and life sciences from universities, hospitals, and research institutions in ASEAN and other Belt and Road partner countries.

    General Introduction

BGI Group as a leader in genomic research, has advanced gene “storage, reading, and writing,” making a significant impact on human health. Its technological breakthroughs and research in reproductive health, tumor screening and treatment, and infectious disease control have made significant contributions to the field. Aligned with "The Belt and Road Initiative," BGI fosters global partnerships and scientific collaboration to benefit humanity.

This training program centers on the concept of Smart Medicine, proposed by BGI, which integrates advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things with modern medicine to improve the efficiency, precision, and accessibility of healthcare.

Participants will explore BGI’s innovation system across the life sciences industry chain, including genomics, cytomics, and spatiotemporal omics, and learn how these technologies can be applied to address public health challenges in their home countries.

Upon completion of the training, participants will be equipped to:

    • Develop comprehensive expertise in advanced multi-omics technologies, including research design and analytical methodologies.
    • Acquire foundational knowledge in bioinformatics, encompassing computational methods, database utilization, statistical analysis, and effective data presentation.
    • Gain a thorough understanding of high-throughput sequencing technologies and their application in genetic disease diagnosis and testing principles.
    • Examine the role of genetic testing in disease prevention, including data interpretation, risk assessment, and genetic counseling strategies.
    • Explore the application of omics technologies in reproductive health, oncology screening, and preventive medicine, with emphasis on laboratory design and testing platforms.
    • Understand life science and biotechnology standards within the “Belt and Road” region, including regional standardization committees and strategies for standards development.

    Main Contents

The curriculum is comprehensively updated and optimized into six modules centered on "Smart Medicine":

1.Online Prep Module: Exclusive English learning resources on Bioinformatics (Linux, Python, R) and Genomics (Single-cell, Spatiotemporal omics), Genetic Data Analysis and Interpretation for Birth Defect Diseases.
