Q: Why do you want to participate in this summer workshop & the Youth Symposium of ICG-18?

Ardy Wildan Tamim:

(Medical Staff at University of Indonesia. Majored in Endocrine, Metabolism, and Diabetes Subspecialty.)

I think this summer [workshop] is our big opportunity for me to learn about the genomics and the biotechnology, especially to see what others are doing. In other words, because in Indonesia, in my hospital, [genomics] is still a very new technology. So by joining this program, hopefully we can accelerate the growth in our university and also in our country.

Mamudul Hasan Razu:

(Scientific Officer at University of Rajshahi. Majored in genetic engineering and biotechnology.)

I wanted to participate in this symposium because it is a big conference that is organized by one of the famous and biggest research organizations, BGI. Besides that, it is my opportunity to hear some lectures from world-leading researchers where I can connect with them. It is also an opportunity for me to calibrate my knowledge in research and to set my research goal.

Q: What are your future aspirations? What do you want to pursue in the future, either in industry or research? Are there any specific fields or directions that interest you?

Kinanti Seraphina Larasati:

(Bachelor Student at University of Indonesia. Majored in biology.)

I've always been interested in genetics and molecules, and I'm truly interested on collaborating or creating some projects, like medical diagnosis based on genomics. But recently I'm also really enjoying working on plant genomics. So, I'm looking forward to see if we can combine both fields and work together.

Jintian Chen:

In the future, I would like to keep going on the field of liver metastasis, especially for colorectal cancer of research. And also, I want to research the interaction of some particular neurons, that they can modulate the immune cell behavior in order to change the microenvironment that facilitates the liver metastasis.

Mamudul Hasan Razu:

I want to build my career in a research field, and I want to make the world better for every person through my research career and my research result. I'm very interested to develop a medical device where I can diagnose any disease. Because in COVID-19, I feel that every country has minimum support for their poor people. So, I believe that I can build my career to develop medical devices for diagnosis of the disease.

Fadhil Rafi Azkarnaen:

(Undergraduate student at Universitas Indonesia. Majored in biology.)

In the future, I want to do science research regarding genome analysis, and bioinformatics, and to study more about the human life and the biomedicine aspect of this life science. I’m interested in biomedicine, especially with whole genome sequencing. I think it's very important for the 10,000 Indonesian Genome Project because it will help make better references for Indonesian people for their diseases and treatments.
