On December 18th, Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), led a delegation to BGI Group to discuss potential collaboration in disease control, public health infrastructure, and staff training.

Dr. Kaseya commended BGI for its achievements in scientific research, disease prevention, and its involvement in China-Africa public health collaborations, and said he looked forward to seeing BGI’s continued cooperation with African nations in healthcare system development and talent training.
Wang Jian, Chairman and Co-founder of BGI Group, said that BGI is committed to implementing the outcomes of the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit. BGI will assist in the development of the Africa CDC and contribute its technical expertise to China-Africa public health cooperation.

Dr. Kaseya’s delegation also visited the BGI Center to gain insight into BGI’s platform development, scientific research, and its collaborative efforts with Africa. This visit not only solidified the foundation for future collaborations but also set the stage for joint initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure and disease prevention across the continent.
