The 4th Workshop of Biomedical and Genomics Science of Indonesia, hosted by BGI Group, concluded successfully at the BGI global headquarters from May 19 to May 23. This immersive program brought together participants from various leading Indonesian institutions and featured a comprehensive curriculum, including lectures, hands-on laboratory training, and interactive experiences.

At the opening ceremony, Wang Jian, Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of BGI Group, and Yin Ye, CEO and Executive Director of BGI Group, warmly welcomed the international attendees. They highlighted BGI Group’s commitment to fostering scientific exchange and collaboration to strengthen academic and research capabilities, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

This workshop hosted 11 participants from key Indonesian institutions, including the Ministry of Health Biomedical and Genome Science Initiative (BGSi), National Brain Center Hospital (RS PON), Dr. Sardjito General Hospital (RSUP Dr. Sardjito), Dharmais Cancer Hospital (RS Kanker Dharmais), Persahabatan Infectious Disease Hospital (RSUP Persahabatan), and Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).

Dewiyani Indah Widasari, Anatomical Pathologist at Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, expressed her appreciation for the workshop, sharing that it provided her with a clearer understanding of the principles of genomic sequencing, quality control measures, and the integration of AI in data analysis. She commended the program’s professional arrangements and supportive staff.
Seruni Tyas Khairunissa, Head of Laboratory at PT Naleya Genomik Indonesia (NGI), BGI Genomics' Indonesian joint venture, noted that the workshop gave her a comprehensive understanding of BGI’s products and bioinformatics, which will greatly enhance her work. She emphasized how this knowledge will help her lab better interpret testing principles, analyze results, and provide accurate feedback to physicians in Indonesia.
Amrista Fanzani Kananga, Quality Management Supervisor at NGI, shared that the program deepened her understanding of laboratory management systems, particularly in areas like document control, workflow optimization, and resource allocation. She looks forward to applying these insights to improve local lab standards.

This workshop, now in its fourth session, has previously earned widespread acclaim and support from Indonesian government agencies, universities, hospitals, and research teams.
