Dr. Yin Ye, CEO of BGI Group, recently visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he held comprehensive talks with Saudi Arabian government officials and business partners and signed multi-disciplinary cooperation agreements with Saudi Arabian public and government units.
Dr. Yin attended the opening ceremony of Genalive Medical Laboratory, an independent joint venture clinical laboratory between BGI and a local partner. "Genalive represents a transformative advancement in the Saudi healthcare industry," he said. "By uniting the strengths of various parties, we can unlock the untapped potential of genomics and provide Saudi healthcare professionals with the tools they need to deliver personalized care for those in need."

Under the invitation of the event organizer, Dr. Yin spoke as a panel speaker at the 10th Arab-China Business Conference, a high-level event organized by the Ministry of Investment under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Yin introduced the achievements of BGI Group in the field of genomics and discussed the challenges and opportunities in biotechnology with other panellists. He also highlighted the importance of international collaboration and cross-border innovation in addressing common challenges in global health.
"We must keep cutting-edge technologies affordable, accessible, and equitable for all; this is very important," said Dr. Yin.

During the panel discussion, H.E. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), praised BGI's contribution to the fight against COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia, citing it as an excellent example of healthcare cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China.
On the sidelines of the conference, with H.E. Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Investment, H.E. Eng. Mansour Bin Hilal Al Mushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and Dr. Yin as witnesses, Mr. Ma Zhe, BGI Group's Western Asia Regional General Manager, signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA). The agreement focuses on biogenetic resources preservation, agriculture modernization, and environmental management, fully supporting Saudi Arabia's Green Initiative of Vision 2030.

During his trip, Dr. Yin also met with senior leadership members from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), the National Unified Procurement Company (NUPCO), the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC), the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), King Saud University (KSU), and other senior executives and officials.
