BGI Cooperates with Jagiellonian University in Poland in the Field of Life Sciences

On April 21, Dr. Yin Ye, CEO of BGI Group, visited Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Both parties signed a memorandum of understanding, announcing that they will carry out cooperation in scientific research, talent training and exchanges in the field of life sciences.

 

Dr. Xiao Minfeng, Deputy Dean of BGI College, and Professor Jolanta Jura, Dean of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology of Jagiellonian University, signed the memorandum on behalf of both parties.

 

Professor Artur Osyczka, Head of the Department of Molecular Biophysics, Guillem Ylla, Head of the Bioinformatics and Genome Biology Lab, Yin Ye, CEO of BGI Group, Li Ning, Vice President of BGI Group, Terence Xiong, Vice President for Global Development of BGI Group, and others witnessed the signing.

BGI Group is committed to working closely with Jagiellonian University to provide opportunities for Polish students to study, research, and intern in China.

 

Jagiellonian University was founded in 1364 and is the top university in Poland and one of the oldest universities in Europe. It has produced outstanding alumni including the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.

 

This year marks the 550th anniversary of the birth of Copernicus and Dr. Yin Ye paid tribute to Copernicus at the beginning of his lecture, “From the Human Genome Project to the SpatioTemporal Omics Consortium," to the teachers and students of Jagiellonian University.

Subsequently, Dr. Xiao Minfeng, Deputy Dean of BGI College, introduced in detail how BGI College cooperates with universities to undertake talent training, and welcomed students from Jagiellonian University to come to BGI College for study and internship.

It is hoped that cooperation between the two parties will help promote breakthrough discoveries and biotechnology advances in the field of life sciences.
